Ice

Some of my regular readers are aware that Husband Wonderful & I job share Animal Control Officer duties for the town. It is a labor of love. We help to re-unite lost pets with their respective owners. Sadly, there are a few times when a beloved owner of a pet has passed away into the Great Beyond.

Most of these tales are of brief temporary transitions into a new place where the pet is loved again in a stable home.

Whatever happens, we do our very best.

Cryptic Tally Ho

Penny's Longarm Quilting

My powers of imagination often run wild with me. Pop up ads on the internet show very naughty ladies and some are scantily dressed, oh my! I pretend that I am their fashion designer and I make amends to their costumes for them.

But this blog is about big beautiful quilts, all soft and cuddly. Whether my quilts are old or new, large or small, for sale or all worn out from years of washings, they are always about good quality.

This young lady was never in any of my Girl Scout troops, but Penny is hard working and industrious. Here below, you may see her displaying a recent creation of her own.

She has invested in a longarm quilting machine and has great prospects of paying her bills as the orders roll in to her business.

Sunday Salvo Across My Bow

My very ho hum day ended at sunset with artificial sweetener dissolved in a wee bit of hot water, cold stale coffee, the last drop of the Captain, and a swish of unsweetened whipped cream.

 May your pipes be moistened with whatever adult beverage perks you up from your doldrums.

Stay calm.

Prospects

Not too much quilty news this week, but shop owner, Nancy, of The Golden Gese was willing to snap my picture as I  sewed on my scrappy binding. Not sure just where this quilt is bound for yet, there are two great candidates for it.

Comfort Time

Today's seasonally pleasant weather allowed me to go to The Cat's Whisker's Studio in Laconia, New Hampshire for a brief quilting adventure.

Here is Ellen, helping me by loading up my quilt on the big machine.

This is a tiny scaled quilt for my usual work. It was done with 1½ inch squares to form the Friendship Stars in a diminutive variation known as "Twinklers."

You can see the Powder Blue 100% Cotton flannel backing on the back roller in the above photograph.

The quilting was free-handed by me in an edge-to-edge organic swirl worked in swaths of approximately one six inch block width across the surface of the quilt.

This wheel-chair sized lap quilt is constructed of mostly American Civil War historically accurate cotton prints, with the occasional "wanna-be" traditional fabrics tossed into the mix.

Mind Over Matter

With the given premise that each living person already has creative talents hidden within them, I value scribbling.

That may seem odd to many folks. Try standing, if you can, in a balanced pose, and reaching up with your own appendages and scribble in the open air. Make circles. Go wide. Narrow it down. Nice and easy.

That exercise of your own dear body has just cleared your own mind to be able to think new thoughts.

Good. Good. Good.

Bread making is a simple form of scribbling, then, isn't it?

Smoothing my fingers through the flour helped me to think clearly again as I made a small loaf.

If you are participating in a very fast-paced game, then you might not be making bread. Still, okay.

You can still clear your mind to begin again.

Log Cabin Lunacy, Indeed!

Some of my regular visitors may recall that Husband Wonderful & I job share Animal Control Officer duties for our rural town.

Today my own dear Labrador Retriever, Miss Emma Lynne, and I were consumed with the whole day long project of entertaining an adolescent intact male whom I shall call "Buddy." She was good; he was boisterous. Here she is, all worn out, after he left here to go back to his home.

So, alas, my Log Cabin blocks all prepared from last month, never did get spread out for a photo.
The three stacks of 16 comprise a group of 48 blocks all pressed with starch.

"My God, How The Money Rolls In..."

Often in my family, while we were all riding together in our car, we would sing songs together as we went to visit my grandparent's homes.

In this way, I developed a tradition of humming an old tune to myself and then making up some silly new lyrics to go along with it.

Most recently, I was making a political parody to an old bawdy house song,  called; "My God, How The Money Rolls In." If you know it, please do hum along with me.
