Quilty News

There was lots of fun over at the Alton, New Hampshire Senior Center on Tuesday as we met after a nice breakfast there. We often spill into the big room and use the ping pong table for layouts.

Sue was sandwiching her layers of a big quilt that she plans to hand quilt and it looks terrific!

Mary has hers in the hoop and is making steady progress as you can see.

This looks good as she quilts along!

I was cutting and measuring the red outer borders for my Starstruck quilt and everything was a jumble as I took this picture.

The fabric is a Paula Barnes design from her Heritage Reds line from Marcus Brothers.

Miss Tanner likes to lay out in the afternoon shade on the table on my deck.

On Friday, the quilters at the Golden Gese Quilt Shop were all very impressed with Maureen's big finish as she did the binding.

Maureen owns an embroidery machine and she tried a metallic gold thread to emblazon her label with dazzling results.

Also at the next session of the Friday group, there was a whole lot of Half Square Triangles being made by Sue for a Christmas star medallion quilt. Good going, Sue!

Maureen made an embroidered star flag that is so cute!

She's also working on a set of four placemats that are octagonal.

After a few false starts due to "pilot error" on rethreading my Singer Featherweight, I was able to complete sewing those red outer borders onto my Starstruck top. Yippee!

Thank you, Maureen, for your help in getting a photograph of me with it and then folding it up.

We forgot to measure it, but it it quite large and I think that it is around 88" or 90" square.

Mr. Tipper welcomed me home by lifting one eyelid as he napped in the shade.

Happy sewing!
