Eccentric Arrivals

My very dear friend, Sharon, heard my plea for help and popped two fine "Eccentric" Civil War patterns into the mail for me. The first one that I saw was this gorgeous (center of the block) seaweed print in red and grey green. Click on the pictures to enlarge them.

When I sewed up the block, my Neat Stripes on the sides of the points came out like a fussy cut and that was more good luck than good judgement. It looks a little like Saint George's Cross, doesn't it?

Then I saw the second example of an Eccentric Print from Sharon, which was heart-stoppingly beautiful! Who could cut this up?

Again I made it my centerpiece with it's dramatic greens and black. Sharon had included a note that this was from a line called, "Masterworks" by Kathy Hall for Andover Fabrics.

The diamonds in the cornerstones are an older Marcus Brothers, and the green floral background is Jeanne Horton for Windham. Nancy Gere did the cheddar star points.

Thank you so very much, Sharon, for coming to my rescue with these lovely eccentric prints!

I did another block with cornerstones that are for the Neat Stripes block, too. I believe that this center was a gift from Lyn's box of treasures. Thank you Lyn!!

The weather is mild and sunny with gentle breezes that make me enjoy the outdoors. But sewing calls to me!

Happy sewing!
