Happy Fourth Of July!

Our frequent rainy showers have made it difficult for Felix, my Husband Wonderful, to keep up with mowing the lawn, orchard, clothesline drying yard, and in between the garden rows, too. But he got the front around the flagpole looking neat for the Fourth. Thank you, Honey!

Yesterday, I did make it down to Concord to The Golden Gese Quilt Shop on 22 Liberty Street to work with the Friday Quilters.

The crew was sparse with it being the holiday weekend and the shop closed on the Fourth.

I had hoped to sew the two 4-Patch pieced borders onto the plain inner borders of my Scrappy Jacob's Ladder top. Those two were all ready to go. Here I am, a-stitchin'!

Barbara from Maine and Maureen had previously given me some nice Burger King coupons that allowed me to feast upon a burger and some fries. Thank you Maureen and Barbara!!

Soon I had outdone my earlier goals and had ALL FOUR of the pieced borders sewn together, then sewn onto the quilt top, and pressed. YIPPEE!!! It's done!

This is my second Scrappy Jacob's Ladder and I chose the Sunshine & Shadows setting design with all traditional and/or Civil War reproduction fabrics.

Because 4-Patches do not play nicely when they wrap around a corner, I used four matching HST's as my cornerstones for that outer border. The inner border is just scrappy lights and creams.

Although I had forgotten to get an accurate measurement of it, if I did the math correctly, 6 twelve inch blocks, plus two 2 inch inner borders, plus two 4-Patch borders that are finishing at four inches, should all total up to a tally of 88" square.

I'm linking this post to Oh Scrap. There is a wonderful linky party there of other wonderful scrappy doings!

Later in the day, I took a Christmas Cactus with an American Flag stuck into it over to my very dear friend Frances. she was glad to see me and we chomped some chocolates as we chatted.

Oh yes, and remember that Shenandoah Valley top that I quilted and trimmed on Thursday? Here is the binding all prepared and ready to sew onto the quilt, YEAY!!!

The rain showers brought our cookout indoors for broiled burgers and sauted-in-butter hot dogs. I'm so glad that the stove is all fixed. Thank you again, Felix!

Later, we went to the Crystal Lake Park and cheered for the Red White and Blue!!

Hope your Fourth of July is special, too!

Happy sewing!

The flag looks nice in its neatly trimmed lawn.
Your Jacob's Ladder looks divine! Someday I'm going to do one of those in CW fabrics. Love it!
How good of you to make a holiday visit to Frances.
