Scrappy Quilts

I love scrappy quilts!

This Friday, at The Golden Gese Quilt Shop on 22 Liberty Street in Concord, New Hampshire, I got to see a real beauty of one.
This was Barbara from Maine's scrappy bricks that was just back from the quilter. Below, Barbara is showing you the backing.

These bricks were approximately 2" x 4" and there are a bazillion of them!

Barbara has also been working on some really pretty Lucy Boston blocks by hand.

She said that by working on them by the TV at night, she can usually get one block done in about two nights.

The Civil War fabrics made me drool!

Below are Lil' Claire, on the left, and Beverly, on the right, admiring the newest blocks on Lil'  Claire's Red/White/Black blocks.

Bev, below, was hand hemming her baby jungle themed quilt.

It came out really cute and I love that giraffe skin fabric!

And check out the adorable custom label for it!

As for me, I worked on my long neglected Hourglass squares and also pressed the borders of Midnight Blues.

Midnight Blues is from Kim Brackett's book, "Scrap Basket Surprises", although I did enlarge my version of her most excellent design. Mine is 87" square before quilting.

Midnight Blues before quilting.

Here is the deep blue printed flannel for the backing.

While I'm awaiting a booking date for the rented longarm to quilt Matthew's Midnight Blues, I'm still piecing rounds on the next group of 16 Log Cabin blocks. They are great fun to do!

I hope that your weekend was fun,  too!

What fun you gals have! That is a LOT of bricks! Red/white and black make such a vivid statement.
Love scrappy quilts, too, and your Midnight Blues is gorgeous! Blue/white is my favorite two color combo.
More log cabins in the making? Wonderful. : )

I am repeating myself : your Midnight Blues Quilt is gorgeous! :)
It came out beautifully even if blue is not your favorite color!
Am looking forward seeing the project of your log cabin blocks!
Best wishes!

I love all this scrappy goodness! Those Red/White/Black blocks are very dramatic, aren't they? Can't wait to see where that goes.
I love your blues, too. I'm looking forward to the finish on that!

What a variety of eye candy! Your Midnight Blues is beautiful. I've been wanting to make a Lucy Boston quilt but figured I wouldn't stick with it until maybe next year after I retire.
