Quiet Neighbors

It might sound morbid, but right across the highway from where I live, there is a small cemetery. People are buried there with the dates of their lifetime carved upon their stone tablets.

Only one neighbor, that I know of, has deeded rights to be buried there with her husband when they pass. God pray that is many long years from now!

It is enclosed by tumbled down rock boundaries, as New Hampshire is still known as, "The Granite State."

Not morbid at all--you have your very own piece of history

I love small, old cemeteries. We have plots in one--it is where my Dad was just buried. Sits on a hill overlooking our valley and it is so peaceful.
When I visited NH for the first time, I was amazed at the solid granite curbs. Is it cheaper to get granite countertops in your kitchen there than it is here, I wonder? : )

I did some family background on my Mothers side..All of her people are buried in a unmarked catholic cemetery in the very small town of South Tetagouche, N.B. I can't believe I found them at all.
Her Father was full blood Mik'Mak' of the Algonquins.

I have a cemetery right behind my property. But it's not small but it sure is quiet here! LOL At one time my hubby and I used to take care of it. Got to be too much for him with congestive heart failure and age too.

Old cemeteries are the source of so many stories! A FB friend (who was one of my penpals in high school) is an avid genealogist. One of her ancestors is buried in a cemetery about 15 miles from where I live. I found it and took photos of the tombstone and filled in a blank on my friend's chart.

How old is the oldest grave (or tombstone) in your cemetery, Vic? Is it a family cemetery or a town cemetery?
