"Bird Houses"

My days this week got pulled away from my regular quilting adventures due to a frantic call from Jenn. She is the daughter of my friend, Pauline, who went back to her winter home in Tennessee last month.

I was supposed to quilt their Women's Fellowship raffle quilt, which I happily did back on Columbus Day on October 12th. When Jenn presented the unfinished and unbound quilt back to the fellowship, no one was willing or able to do it!

So it sat in Jenn's trunk for a month, unfinished. Sigh.

Jenn called me Monday and I picked up the quilt from her that afternoon.

I returned the quilt 24 hours later on Tuesday afternoon, all finished, bound, and labeled. Whew!

I did NOTHING else and only took a half hour lunch break. I was glad to have it done but I hated the pressure of a deadline.

There was no fabric provided specifically for the binding, so when I trimmed the backing and the batting, I was glad that there was more than enough extra backing fabric to use for the binding.

The binding was all machine done and although I forgot to take a picture of the label that I quickly lettered with a Dritz Permanent Marker, it was labeled with the date, place, and attributed just to the Women's Fellowship.

It finished at 88" by 92", so it is a generous queen sized quilt. Most importantly, it is all done for their Pumpkin & Pine Fair on Saturday, November 7th, 2015 deadline! It looks terrific, doesn't it?

I'm so glad to be retired and not face deadlines on a regular basis!

Happy quilting!

So good of you to follow through beyond what was agreed upon at the start.
Sounds like the group needs to get their ducks lined up before getting into the water! : )

You are really very kind to do that for them!
I think when it's a group-quilt or raffle-quilt everybody
should help, also with the finishing.
How quick when many hands help during an evening!
Nothing more disagreeable than a dead-line for a quilt...
Best wishes!
