Friday Fun!

Yesterday at the Friday Quilters at The Golden Gese Quilt Shop on 22 Liberty Street in Concord, New Hampshire, I had two small, manageable goals.

One goal was to measure and cut batting for the Heartstrings donation quilt over at the Senior Center in Alton New Hampshire. As you can see, I like to use a yardstick and a fine point Sharpie marker to draw my line all the way across before cutting.

The top is a Heartstrings with red focus fabric made by several of the gals in The Sunshine Club that meets on Tuesdays. If you'd like instructions here is the link. Link.

My other goal was to get the Edith top pressed, measured (80" by 80") and folded up to take home. I did get that goal done, but did not take a new photo of it. The snapshot below is the quilt top before pressing, just for reference.

Both Maureen and Beverly were there and they both worked on helping me to cobble up a long skinny side piece to enlarge my batting for the Heartstrings raffle quilt top.

We broke a needle, sewed the seam wrong and re-sewed it, and, ultimately, I learned that all that travail was unnecessary. That batting was wide enough to use without the supplemental strip along the side of it. Thank you, ladies, for trying!

Maureen was still working on her blue Rhombus quilt piecing and it's coming along nicely! If Maureen looks different to you, she is sporting new glasses frames and has lost some weight on her diet. Win, win, win!

Beverly was also starting a Rhombus quilt with three bold colors; yellow, white, and blue.

We did also enjoy some bright purple and blue Birthday cake to help Claire celebrate her upcoming special day.

Sue was working diligently on her Storytellers quilt by Nancy Gere for Windham. Those sure are tiny HST's!

We all had a good day together!

Lest I forget, let's remember Julie K's Log Cabin Lunacy night is tonight! Link.

I really must get back to dropping my blocks on top of my strips for more of these!

Happy quilting!

Looks like you have a lot of fun with the girls, and good progress too. I like the technique you use to make the log cabin. Smart! ;^)

I'd been watching you make log cabins that way, then when Log Cabin Lunacy appeared I knew I had to jump in! I've got eight blocks done so far, inspired by your speedy blocks. Thanks!

Your strings quilt looks lovely, as does the hourglass quilt. Good luck quilting them. I see log cabin lunacy popping up everywhere; I'm tempted to join in!

One day you may even convince me to start a big log cabin quilt (I've only made paper pieced minis).
