All Better!

My goodness, I was hit hard by the "norovirus GIL, Sidney", according to the Fox News program Sunday Housecalls. Both Felix, and then I, were hit hard below the belt and we both were dehydrated and relapsed after two days. So we ain't been right all week. I have done zero sewing from Sunday night until Friday. When I felt up to it, I'd do a few dishes or a load of laundry, but I've been weak as a kitten.

Now it has been snowing all day in a big blockbuster blizzard. The winds haven't picked up too much yet, but they are predicted to do so. We may lose power. Matthew's afternoon classes were cancelled at NHTI. Then, later, after Maggie Hassam, our New Hampshire governor, declared a state of emergency, the Gilmanton Recycling Center was scheduled to be closed for tomorrow.

So these pictures were downloaded on Sunday afternoon but not blogged. Now you get to see those cute 10" Civil War log cabins! If these pictures inspire you and you'd like a little guidance for making them, the link to Mary Johnson's free and helpful instructions is here. But I must admit that I was influenced by the Inspired By Antique Quilts ( here ) and the Busy Thimble ( here ) blogs as well. I'm a shameless copycat when building pretty quilts!
I had used a 2 1/2" center "chimney" in a deep red that is a constant.
The ever-helpful Raven agreed with me that this barnraising pattern was too beautiful to pass up!
So the 16 blocks went together, 4 blocks by 4.
Above you can see my pinned-on slips of paper that note which number the row is, are still visible to the left.
I especially love how lively the lights are, despite lots of repeats of fabrics.
And Raven, who was the first to become ill, seems to be all better even though we will finish giving her all the medicines.

Oh Dear, poor Vic & Felix! Do take care...Your Log Cabin blocks sure are pretty. I'm up early, couldn't sleep. I think the worst of this Blizzard is over now....Pete has no work today! First time they canceled the Postal service his 27 years of working there.

Ugh! Sorry to hear you've been so under the weather, but glad you're all on the mend now! Pretty log cabin blocks! Hope you're staying warm up on top of your mountain! The snow sure is pretty when you're on the inside looking out!

Sounds like you did not have a fun week!
How much snow did you get? DD #1 says they had 2 feet over the past 24 hours or so, but they didn't lose power.
Love those log cabin blocks. I'm getting the itch to make some myself, but I must resist. : )

Vic, are you the one who wanted to attend Bonnie's class?
Go to PTQG website- members workshops. You will see Bonnie Hunter's classes. We are allowing 40 people per class. Non members need to pay an extra $15. There may be a lottery but it would be worth the attempt to get into a class. I am trying for both classes. May 3 Bangor is Jamestown landing, May 4 is the trunkshow at Waterville, free. and May 5 Augusta Civic Center is Smith Mountain Morning. On the website is applications and instruction. If you want more info, or I can help contact at sewnsew@live.com
