Yesterday was all about my girlfriend, Frances, on her 99th birthday!
She is happy and healthy and living each day and said to count our blessings.
Frances blew out her candles with one try, can you see below that they are still smoking?
Frances, herself, quit smoking cigarettes when she was a mere 85 years old. Since then she says that she feels better, but that she has had to bury a couple of her own doctors.
When I gave her my gift of the quilt that I named, "Pleasant Times," she was careful to study my workmanship and quick to praise it.
I am honored to have been invited to the private family celebration and to enjoy the friendship of my very best role model for graceful aging.
We'll do lunch soon! Happy Birthday my very dear friend!
Thanks for stopping by to share the celebration!
Happy sewing!

How very sweet! She looks like a very special lady.
Happy belated birthday to your dear friend.
I love your quilt and I know she will, too.
She sounds like a wonderful friend.
That is nice. Love that glass of wine in her hand!
what a lovely celebration!
She sounds like a grand lady! I'm sure she loved the quilt you gave her. Thanks for your thoughtful comment on my recent post. For some reason I can't reply directly to it - it never showed up in my email. We had a spring like day here in Virginia today - so soon after a significant snowfall and frigid temps - crazy weather! Take care.
Oh my, 99! I'm sure she really loved that special quilt. What a good friend.
What an inspiration for all of us! She seems spry for 99.
I'm sure she loved you gift!
Cheers, Frances! Wow, 99; she's an inspiration to us all; thank you for sharing your amazing, incredible friend. She knows what's important in life, I can tell... friends, quilts and a glass of wine doesn't hurt either!
Happy birthday to Frances! And what a pleasant gift you gave her.
This morning's Chicago Tribune had an obituary for a woman who lived to 104. It said that when she was 101 she commented, "Oh, to be 90 again!"
May we all age with grace and good humor.
Oh, what an awesome story! How nice of you to make her a quilt to celebrate.
What an inspiring story! Love the photos!
I hope I am still drinking red wine and having fun with quilty friends when I am that age!
