Making The Rounds

Friday's luscious sunshine was most welcome to The Sunshine Club as Pauline and Sue and I chatted and chomped our chocolate. Pauline had brought in the first of the blocks for her church benefit quilt.
Do you recall having seen the large star block that I had done for it?

Pauline had also brought in a few quilts she had made for grandchildren.

Here is the RWB one that she neither tied nor quilted, but rather, used machine embroidered motifs, spaced throughout the quilt, to hold the sandwich together.

 Very clever!

My favorite was the dragonfly!

We had lunch of fresh garden salad with thousand island dressing and French toast casserole, which is similar to bread pudding, with lots of maple syrup. We all played bingo, and I even won one game!

Then today, as I am also the official Animal Control Officer for the towns of Gilmanton and Belmont, when I needed to take two lost family dogs to the shelter in Concord, I decided to pop in at The Golden Gese Quilt Shop.
I had shamelessly brought my Churn Dash quilt with me to show it off, and was delighted to reacquaint myself with Kate to show it to her (no picture).
Claire was on duty behind the counter making up new selections for the shop's fabulous collections of fat quarters.

I sang a few bars of, "I'm forever folding fabrics, pretty, pretty fabrics, oh so fair..." to the tune of "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" and we all burst out laughing! I showed amazing restraint for my budget and only spent $15!
Here are my goodies; half a yard of the Moda Primitive Gatherings tea bag tan shirting, and then, on sale, a very soft tawny apricot yard with a subtle polka dot by Maywood Studios, and lastly a cream background yard of The Haunted Hallow by Jacqueline Paton for Red Rooster.

Maybe I'll use some of these for those Farmer's Wife blocks, not sure yet. Isn't it marvelous to have such elegant choices?

Stay calm and quilt on!

You do just take the fun with you wherever you go, Vic! Glad the sun is shining and things are thawing!

It was a treat to see you today, Vic! Your quilt is even prettier in person than it is in your photos. I see a replica in my future! The red sashing is PERFECT! Thanks for sharing. I'm back to the trenches early tomorrow morning, but I hope to run into you again, soon!

Any reason is a good reason to stop at a quilt shop.
