Mail Call!

Well, yes it is snowing again this morning, but who cares anymore? I have received a package from each of two different very dear internet friends, so I say I'm very happy to stay indoors!

This box arrived from Ila in Illinois with a Queen sized polyester batt made by Thinsulate,

and a marvelous two yard hunk of Creamsicle colored orange paisley by Fabri-Quilt.

Okay, the box also contained a huge jar of dark chocolate-dipped caramels rolled in sea salt, too, but I wasn't going to admit that, LOL! It came just in time to share with friends.

The jar was eagerly passed around at Friday Quilters as you can see below.  Thank you so very much Ila for all your gifts, and a big "thank you" goes out to your hubby, too, who paid for the shipping! Thank you!

There was another delightful package sent to me by Teresa in Texas. It contained a fabulous passel of dark 1½" strips for more log cabins! Wheee! Thank you so very much Teresa!!

These will work wonderfully with the recent swap of 1½" light neutrals that had come in a few days ago.

Our Friday Quilters group with Clair at The Golden Gese Quilt shop on 22 Liberty Street in Concord, New Hampshire, was filled with happy quilters. Here, left to right, are Clair and Jan.

Barbara from Maine, seen below, was sewing pieces on her super scrappy bricks. She said she likes to use a lot of pins so that the seams line up nicely.

Here is her work spread out for viewing.

Aren't the fabrics wonderful?

What a fabulous scrappy top it is!!

Another fabulous scrappy top was brought in by Clair and it was all small tumblers.

I think that Clair said that it is 106" square but I'm not sure of that.

The range of fabrics is phenomenal! She said it was totally random placement.

Beverly was there and had started some flower pot blocks using Dresden ruler pieces from Missouri Star Quilt Company's video. Link here.

They are so cute and Spring-like.

The block pieces are held in place with a machined blanket stitch in a medium tan thread that is barely noticeable.

 That's another scrappy look!

Beverly had Yoda in his crate, but he was all wiggly when I wanted a picture.

Heidi joined me downstairs at the main cutting desk, working with her beautiful batiks.

As for me, I had my scrappy log cabin's Streak Of Lightening all sewn together from what I'd done at home and I got it all pressed.

Here you can see that it has the scrappy light neutral inner border all sewn onto the quilt's center.

Right now, with only the inner border, it measures a mere 78" square and I want to add more to it. Since I've never done a piano key border before, it seemed like it would be a fun solution.

I had some strip panels sewn already for it and I began to chop them up into 5" long sections.

It was a great day and we all enjoyed each others company!

Happy sewing!

You received some really fun mail! (Those chocolates sound way too good! Nice of you to share.)
So many lovely projects among your group. I think your light inner border surrounded by piano keys is going to be a stellar finish for your log cabin quilt!

Great post. Those are some great scrappy quilts! Love how your log cabin is progressing. I've never seen the Dresden points in a flower pot pattern. Very cute! You ladies surely have fun!
