Today was a fabulous day! Cool dry air swept in taking all the oppressive rainy humidity with it.
I went up to my Sew & Sews sit'n'sew group after stopping on the way at The Dump Run Cafe inside the Gilmanton Community Church for coffee and a half muffin in the cinnamon flavor. But! I forgot to bring my camera!
This was especially bad because we all went up to Moultonboro, New Hampshire, to see one of our group, Marie-Louise Buitendag, give a trunk show of her lovely traditional quilts. Let me say that they were wonderfully scrappy and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. But you will not get to see them at all I fear unless I can figure out how to get two or three emailed pictures onto this blog, LOL! You'll have to just take my word for it!
Today was also an early riser day for the household to get Matthew up by 5am and out the door to be at work by 6am at the dump. Felix made us a great hot breakfast of bacon and eggs, thank you, Hon! Since I was up, I finished the bindings on four potholders.
Usually, I just grab scrappy binding leftovers, but these called for just the right tone, so I made up some in a pretty reddish floral. I find that one Width-Of-Fabric crosswise strip that is cut 2 1/2" wide does one potholder very nicely with very little waste going into the scrap bin.
The last two are very unique in that they are a perfectly matched set and I usually mix things up a bit more than that. this just happened to be a combination that I really liked a lot, LOL!
Stay calm and quilt on!
