Celebrating 65!

All day today my wonderful family and friends helped me to celebrate my 65 years and I had a great time!

I love growing old, it sure beats the alternative, LOL!

On a quilty note, I was able to finish up a few pinwheels into a little table topper just in time to hold my birthday bouquets and a jar of candied violets made by my Connecticut sister.

Because of the red, yellow, and green, I may call this one, "Traffic Lights." I hadn't intended to make a table topper, but at 18 inches square it fit perfectly. What serendipity!

These were just little bonus or waste triangles, mostly from having made the Crossroads Twinkle Garden quilt earlier this year.

-editor, Whoops! The above photo was before Twinkle Garden had gotten its borders. Here is what it looked like when it was all finished and bound, below.

And one close up of Twinkle Garden:

Here is the reverse side of Traffic Lights, photographed in low light so that I hope you can see the free motion quilting done on my vintage circa 1949 White Sewing Machine that I named "Old Trusty."

Not perfect but done and fun! Here it is with flash, maybe better? ed. Can you spot the one small square that I accidentally skipped from getting a quilted "X" inside of it? Try the top row, LOL!

Hope you enjoyed your day as much as I did!

Happy sewing!

Happy birthday to you, my friend! I love your attitude about growing old. : ) But you aren't very old, you know.
Great little topper you made--so sweet. Clever name, too.
Candied violets? Oh, my neighbor used to make those when I was little. Haven't seen them since.

Happy Birthday! Love your quilting that you have posted lately. It's nice to have an extended fall. Trees are just turning in Arkansas. We haven't had a freeze, yet.

Happy Birthday! I love the little table topper with those fabrics. Sometimes a little project is all you need to feel you accomplished something.
