Deja Vu All Over Again!

Goodness, gracious, it's snowing again all day and night, LOL! Felix did the "big" grocery shopping before it started. He only forgot one item (whipped cream), so we 're in fine shape now with a big pork roast in the oven. It is scenting the air with rubbed sage and pork and making my mouth water!

I prewashed a few fabrics in my oversized bathroom sink and hung them over the extra rod in the tub to drip dry. But mostly, it has been a lovely day of piecing downstairs in my Quilt Cave.

These are 12" blocks of the new edition of Scrappy Jacob's Ladder, mostly from my own stash.

Many of the four patch and HST's were "extras" from the sets of six already sent in to my swaps, so they've been hanging around ripening. I did some block assembling yesterday, too.

For some reason, I seem to have a prejudice against blue in my palette and I'm working at including that color more often than I usually do.

I also put together another Sunny Lanes block, too.

I am the hostess for the Sunny Lanes blocks' swap which is deadlined for February 13th. I've seen a few peeks at those that will soon arrive and they are gorgeous!

There was lots of lovely time on coffee breaks spent over on my Flickr account, link gazing at the lovely selections of blocks done for the Barbara Brackman sew-along at Civil War Quilts. One thing inspires another and I made this block to celebrate the pumpkin cheddar.

As for the Bonnie K. Hunter mystery, Grand Illusion
I do continue to put blocks together for that project, too. This is block number 21 (out of 25 needed), that is done and I have number 22 all laid out and ready to sew next time I go downstairs to sew.

I keep having my doubts over my having included that electric blue turquoise that you can see above in the upper left and lower right corners of the block. They look garish. My mantra to calm those butterflies is:

Everything will be okay.
Everything will be okay.
Everything will be okay.

A part of me doesn't believe a word of it, LOL! But I keep on keepin' on.

As for the delays, I certainly am a person who cannot count units correctly and I am still stopping assembly to make a few more Double Diamond units for the blocks.

They take extra time as I sew the additional seam for the cute little bonus triangles, too.

If you are snowed in like I am, I hope you keep both your electric power and your forward momentum to sew.

Happy sewing!

Scrappy Jacob's Ladder and Sunny Lanes blocks in the same post--I am in heaven! Love both of those! : )
Hope you keep your power so you can also keep your sewing momentum.

Wishing you days full of power and momentum; I love seeing your blocks, they're all great! Stay warm~

Oh, and re: that electric blue/turquoise... don't worry about it, in the whole scheme of things it will just play up all the other wonderful fabrics in the blocks and make the quilt SING!

Yes, it will be okay. Spread those wings and fly!

Once you get Grand Illusion finished that "electric" blue will be a nice twinkle. Don't fret!
I tried some scrappy Jacob's Ladder blocks but realized that the ladders need to be consistent (if not all-the-same fabrics, then very close to one another). I will try again sometime.
How much snow have you gotten this week?

Love your scrappy Jacob's Ladder! Your Stars in a Time Warp blocks are sensational. I think you really caught the essence of what Barbara was trying to convey and they look like they were made in the 19th century! Beautiful!
