Marcus Brother's Sew Along

Although I love Marcus Brothers historical reproduction fabrics, I can't swear that every scrap in my vast collection is MB, but most of it is! Last night I got all excited about the Marcus Brothers Friends & Companions Sew Along. Pam Buda's block, Union Forever is the first challenge. link is here.

First I committed rank heresy by actually opening and cutting into one of my $10 "Snippets" rolls from The Busy Thimble.

Then I used some black RJR from my friend, Stacey's online quilt shop, Sew Far Sew Good Quilt Shop.

My red was from a scrap that I think is the same as what Pam Buda showed, but mine was without it's selvedge signature, so I'm not positive.

Now the cheddar just HAD to be Jo Morton for Andover; nobody does cheddar better than Jo Morton! Except maybe Faye Burgos?

Thank you Pam Buda, for your most excellent directions on this challenging block!

My blue was an unidentified Civil War selection that came in a gorgeous bundle from Stacey at the Sew Far Sew Good Quilt Shop. It was the perfect blend of dark and medium blues.

Uh oh, what's wrong here?

Thank goodness it wasn't sewn yet! Here is my correct Union Forever block by Pam Buda.

My background choice was Marcus Brothers Centennial Treasures. What is hiding my horrible ironing board cover is a half yard of Primitive Gatherings for Moda. But that one wrongly turned flying goose haunted me. Before I sewed the above block, I had to experiment.

You know my passion for Sawtooth Stars, LOL! I made a whole new block because I liked it so much!
But I chose to flip the Cheddar/Black HST's 180 degrees when I sewed the Flying Geese.

So now there are two blocks! Wheee!!!

I had a ball! Hope you'll join the Sew Along!

Happy Sewing!

Grace cracks me up! : )
I really like Pam's design, but your own arrangement is wonderful. And, as I told you before--what gorgeous fabrics you used! These blocks are beautiful!
I am not sewing along. I'm already so far behind this year, after putting everything on hold March through May to prep for the trunk show, and then July was a standstill with my Mom in the hospital. I need to get back to my Year of the UFO, and not create more of them!

I think the 2 blocks together would work to make a great 2-block quilt.

Wow - that's a cool block you came up with! Your color choices for the blocks are nice and lively.
