The Blessed Sunshine!

After a week or so of rain, drizzle, and more rain, followed by occasional showers, we are so glad to see the SUN!!!! Yeay! As the days get shorter, I am needing to go outdoors to sit in the sun for my 15 minutes each day. It really helps control my S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder) symptoms of low energy, low motivation, grouchiness, and weepiness.
So here I am out on the asphalt driveway trimming the excess backing fabric and batting layer away from the edges of the 1930's Star & Chain quilt.
After I trimmed it, it measured about 58" square. Linda Monasky of The Bear Paw Gallery in Alton, New Hampshire, did a fine job of quilting a simple overall meander and it looks great!
For the backing, I chose a cuddly flannel that is printed with white daisies on an aqua/greenish blue background. It has a dainty look that I hope will please the 90 year old recipient, Phyllis Mae!
Please don't forget that you may double-click on any photograph to enlarge it.

I also took the camera for a brief stroll to capture some of the New England lovely fall scenes.

Raindrops glistened off of the Indian Crabapple that will feed the birds all winter long.
Now I must stay focused and get that binding sewn onto the quilt so that I can hand hem it down!

that is a beautiful quilt! we are hurtling into summer here, very little rain for over 2 months, hot temps 28-31c and windy, a real fire hazard at the moment. It looks lovely over there, I love autumn :)

The fall pictures are beautiful. Fall is the best season, just too bad it is so short. We are hoping for rain, it has been so dry. Sounds like the MN pumpkins are being shipped to your part of the country.
Your Star & Chain quilt looks like a great cuddler quilt, especially with the flannel on the back. I always like the 30's style quilts.
